So today I logged on to Wikipedia hoping to find some background information on the Venerable Bede only to find a picture of some sort of mutilated penis greeting me on the front page. I thought that maybey someone was just trying to pull a prank and went to show my roomates, but nobody else saw the mutilated penis on their computers. Unfortunatley I was the only one to enjoy the beauty that is a penis with an incision down the top of it.(... And all I wanted to know was Bede's birthday!!!!!!!!!)

Clicking on the image took me to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Computercut.jpg as the source for the image. However, when I gave the link to other people they went there and it said no image found. For me though I still see an image. Although for some reason it has changed to a picture of a naked Angelina Jolie...The image on the front page of wikipedia has dissapeared however.

Anyways! I'm assuming i'm afflicted with some sort of bug, although I don't know where to even begin searching to try to get rid of it. Have any of you heard of this before? And possibly what kind of attack it might be called?

I was using internet explorer.

Yes Yes, I know, Firefox, blah blah blah.

Spybot Search and Destroy.

http://www.safer-networking.org/

That's if it's spyware... it will, will WILL find it.

Otherwise Norton Antivirus; it causes massive WoW lag but you won't have a virus. Ever.

I'm bumping this, because I'm looking for a virus scanner that doesnt charge money. I dont really want to pay to update Norton Antivirus. And I suspect I'm not getting the full protection with this un-updated copy.
Any ideas?

I don't like the stigmata that Mac owners have. People that seem to think that that are better than other PC users simply because they have a mac.
Plus their commercials annoy the hell out of me.

Now you're speaking my language. Wink

Trust me, I was a hardcore-Windows PC programmer before I made the switch. Now many Macs later, my PC laptop serves only as an expensive paper-weight or door jamb. Once you go Mac, you never go back!

Anyhow, as for free PC antivirus software, check out this recent article from PCworld that has links to two freebies Grisoft's AVG and Alwil's Avast:

I hate those commercials HATE THEM. They make Mac users come off as Elitest ASSHOLES.
I will never own a mac. Not until the holier than thou attitude of most mac owners stop.

Hehe. ^^; I was just saying that sorta half-jokingly. ._. It's just that hardly anybody makes virus' for Macs. Seriously. Aseria works at Symantec and ... the Mac queue is nearly almost *dead*. <.<

We own a Mac, but it's the little MacMini downstairs. It's only meant to play movies for us. ^^; Hehe. Aseria built our computers, but I know jack about them. @_@ Hehe. I've never owned a nice computer, so this is nice. ^^

I do hear ya on the whole Mac attitude, though. :\ I think they're just being arrogant because for so long, they were the "lower" computer, y'know?

Macs are virus free for now until they become popular enough for programmers to care about programming viruses for them. There is no superiority. Just popularity. Sorta like the comic aly posted.

My best memories of macs are when mac users would get computer games that came out 5 years ago on PC. gg.

ROFL.

Awesome comic. Thanks for posting it! ^_^ Made me laugh so hard. XD

And yeah, you're right Thal. Nobody pays attention to Macs... just the ever so popular PC... but now that Macs are becoming more and more popular... who knows what's next? :p I'm just saying right now that by getting a Mac, you won't have to deal with or worry about (today's) viruses. ^^;

Although by getting a Mac, you'll just be trendy. <.< It seems to be the trendy thing to have these days... with the iPod and all. *shrugs* Meh. I just got a MacMini because it was really cheap and could pull off all we needed for our TV downstairs. We download anime on our computers and then watch it there. ^.^ (we're saving for a large widescreen, which will make things so much more better! ^^)
It's a pretty nifty way to do things especially when it's a good quality anime or friends are here. It's better than crowding around a small computer monitor, anyways. @_@ Blah.

It was by far cheaper to buy that than building our own machine. @_@ Also, the size of the MacMini fits with our Wii and DVD player. ^^;
