The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is syndicated in my local paper and I read it at lunch every single day. This summer, Spidey spent the whole summer obtaining health insurance. (Incidentally, I love how comic strip time runs at 1/1000th the speed of real life time. Mary Worth, for example, has taken the last two weeks to get her tuna casserole out of the oven and deliver it to the lady down the hall.)
My favorite part was that his insurance company required him to get a physical exam. He made an appointment and went to the doctor. The dramatic tension in this amazing adventure came from the fact that he wore his spidey suit under his clothes:
Where's the homoerotic tension? Where's the brooding? Where's the morally questionable killing? All I've seen is a lot of Peter Parker watchin TV and moping because Mary Jane makes more money than he does.
Doctor Octupus did smash a TV this week. Maybe that'll goad spidey into a Batman-style homocidal rage.
LOL Tsuli! That is a truly excellent strip. The Amazing Spider-Man applying for Health Insurance is really quite a pulse-pounding thrillride! Next week.... Peter must drop his pants, turn his head and cough... is that his Spider-sense tingling?
