Haddie was just askin' me what kinda art work I do, and I do a lot of stuff, mixed mediums, and I'm also a photographer. So it's hard to specifically say exactly what I do, because I have no definition myself because I like to have my hand in every cookie jar. (Mmm cookies!)
But here's a clue: One of the art books I'm in is the i am 8-bit: Art Inspired by Classic Videogames of the '80s book published by Chronicle Books:
Wooo, that looks (and sounds) a whole lot cooler than what I do for bread...design software for a financial services software company. How geeky can ya get (accounting + programming). Oh well, one bennie...quite a few other WoWers hangin' out in the coffee room!
One of the things that kept me away from Azeroth this week was that I didn't know until the last minute that I was slated to be in the 'i am 8 bit' (art inspired by video games of the 80s) exhibit again this year:
Check out their small list of available artworks below. My piece isn't on the website since I literally just submitted it on Monday, and the insane opening reception was on Tuesday night. But check out this link for interesting interpretations of some classic retro games like Metroid, Super Mario Bros, Kirby, Tetris, Zelda, etc.
The actual exhibit has like dozens and dozens more neat pieces, so if you find yourself in the L.A. area, check it out!
And I don't know if it's still there, but on opening night, they had a huge Atari joystick that required 2-to-3 people to operate and they projected the game onto a big wall. (All I could think of at the time is, 'Imagine playing WoW that big!" )
