Sure, you can always use the /assist %t command when you're in a party, but why not make assisting even more fun?

Try out Tank Assist. It not only makes assisting easier, it also gives you a little graphic that tells you exactly who the Main Tank is targeting.

Remember the general rule of multiple-mob management:
A mob with 5% health still hits you just as hard as a mob with 100% health.

So it's often more effiencient to take down single mobs together to lessen the total amount of damage received by the party overall, than for everyone to split up and tank mobs individually.

(Yes, there are some exceptions to the rule on certain boss strategies, but generally Assisting works more often than not. "Groups that successfully Assist perform better than a group 5 levels higher that does not." So even if you don't use the Tank Assist addon, please remember to /assist regularly.)

Anyway, with Tank Assist you set up a person as a main tank (and you can also setup a Main Assist even for the lead puller or DPSer) and it makes assisting easy and breezy.

To set up a main tank just type:

/ta1 %t

or

/tankassist1 nameofplayer

Then simply keybind a button to Tank Assist 1 in the Key Bindings menu, and voila! PWNz0rz, as they say.

Also if you learn to assist before something big and epic like Molten Core, you decrease the blood pressure of your main puller/target leader by over forty %!
