The other night Tryxx and I were in Zul'Gurub with our evening raid group -- here's a snapshot of my UI while we were gearing up by the Altar of Hir'eek:

http://emeraldguard.dreamhosters.com/photo_albums/kal/KalUI_ZGraid.jpg

Good times!

Add-Ons visible:

- CT Raid Assist (view by class; show buffs, health and mana bars only)
- CT Bottom Bar / CT Master Mod (to mod and simplify the UI)
- Cosmos UI (Buff mode 2 / Damage Meter / Clock / Trinket Swap)
- Tech Stats (shows frames-per-second and location)

Have you ever used decursive unit frames?

You sort of have to set them up, but you can have it set where you get "target's target" or even "teammates target" (for each teammate).

You can cut crap off the bars, like maybe you just don't care how much energy or mana you teammates have or you want to see the actual numbers, or maybe you WANT to see the little buff icons by their pictures, or under the bars, or not at all... It's pretty slick what all you can do...

Again, the drawback, is you originally have to set it all up, but after that you save your 'preset' and then you can copy that (in game) for all of your other characters, or make them a custom one...

At any rate I like it, usually in a raid the healer can barely see past the raid bars eheh, wack 'a mole... Hey does pulling your resolution up hurt your play? I've been meaning to do it, but didn't want to screw around with increasing the resolution, reseting all the bars and what'not only to find I was going to lag...

-Also-

Is that Cosmos "Buff mode 2" the icons above your picture?

And why use a clock? You know you can mouse over the moon/sun dial by the map (I think) and it pops up the time... eh, well I'm pretty sure that's how I used to do it anyhow ahaha

Heya Ade,

When do we get to see your UI? Smile

I haven't tried any other UI mod except for CT's Breakable Bottom Bar to remove textures, spaces, bags, menu options, etc. and move most things around. (I can't move my picture or the mini map.) Actually, the buffs above my picture are another action bar from CT. It gives you five action bars total -- I just scaled one down and put it up there for easy access to boost items. (Actually, I lied about never trying any other UI mod -- I tried to install the Druidium UI once, but couldn't get that to work.)

I would like to try other stuff like Discord or Nurf UI though. I definitely would like to simplify my UI even more, to make the whack-a-mole a little less hectic hehe. I plan to experiment a bit once I get a new system (which hopefully will be in two weeks or so) -- my dual-processor G4 with 1gb of RAM is almost six years old and is chugging along as best it can, but I get an average of 4-7 fps. It's a big pain trying to monitor health bars when it's that choppy -- suddenly people are missing 2/3rds of their health. And yep, any resolution changes just screws me majorly in lag unfortunately, but it seems to work alright for Tryxx who runs WoW on a newer Powerbook and gets an average of 25 fps.

As for the clock, it's the Cosmos clock -- I actually just keep it up for all the lower level alts, because when you roll over it, it tells you how much XP-per-hour you're earning, time to level up, etc. I also mostly keep it visible so that I'm not late to raids, hehe. (I really need to own a watch... someday.)

So true! Case in point.... last night was our first trip into the Molten Core, and my first time healing in a 40-man raid. It was chaotic to say the least. I could barely see what Lucifron looked like. I wanted to turn off mana bars in CT Raid Assist, but I need it to innervate the priests -- I definitely have to organize CTRA a little better for the next run though.

During: (Note the tech stats' report of 2.7 fps)

After:

Ouch! Even though the soul stone ran out (doh!) the DC'd druid saved the day a mere 5 minutes later.

Haha, great pics of MC! Smile

Yea, I've tried a couple UI's, some were pretty neat, like Insomniax, and one I think was called aCiD(?) not sure... I always just end up going back to mostly CT stuff, or cutting all the crap out of whichever UI I had to make it more CT like... So now I get the new CT_ALL package every time there is a update then add a few other things I like... Like those unit frames, the damage meters cause I like to see how much I rock, some others I can't remember right now...

My UI is mostly CT, so you're not missing much, the only real difference is the unit frames, I 'think' they were called discord, or meh, something like that... I have to find them again tonight so I'll come back here and link them.

Please do post the link the unit frames add-on -- I'd love to try it. You've totally inspired me to tinker with my UI again. (Insomniax does look very tempting, but also a bit daunting. Nice that they update regularly though.)

I'm also looking for this one add-on that puts your health/mana/energy/casting bars in these sort of color brackets around your character in the middle of the screen. (Sort of like a car's speedometer.) You wouldn't happen to know what that is? I'm gonna go hunt around and see if I can find it today.

Haha! You rock indeed. Laughing I like to stroke my ego with Sordit's CritLine for both damage and healing crits -- it dings everytime you beat your own record.

You mean like this?

I think the 'target' there could be discord, not sure about the sort of rounded ones around the map though, I'd also like to know what that is, I'll look it up...

Ahh alright... Well in the above screeny, looks like this one is responsible for the little pic of the target above the radar:
http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=3146

I can't find anything about the little curved health/mana beside where the radar is but it could just be a variation of the discord unit frames I've been tryin to sell ya on, here's a link for that:

Oooh, that's hot! Hmm, I kinda really dig that.

Anyway, the one I was originally looking for was this:
http://digix.us/wow/screenshots/priest_ui.jpg

But in my hunt for it, I also found this called TurboStats which is pretty sweet as well:
http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=2105

And you've successfully sold me on the DiscordMods. I'm off to download it right now. Do you use Discord Unit Frames and Discord Action Bars, or just the unit frames?

So I discovered that that thing I'm looking for is called a 'HUD' and I found this on the WoW forum and I'm pasting it here for my own purposes:

HUD Addons:

Nurfed HUD:
http://www.nurfedui.net/addons.php
For the latest version of Nurfed_HUD download "nurfeduibeta.zip" and take the addons
"Nurfed_HUD" and "Nurfed_Utility" [Nurfed_Utility is required for Nurfed_HUD to run]
To get the menu to appear:
/script ShowUIPanel(Nurfed_HudOptions);
This is not needed if you are running Nurfed_Genral

TurboStatus:
http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=1770 -- English
http://www.wowui.cn/soft/906.htm -- Chinese
/TS or /Turbostatus to bring up the config screen
Options are self explanitory really, the little yellow / green boxes are HP / Mana and the options speak for themselves

Statrings:
http://www.vigilance-committee.org/wow/downloads/
Havent used this one in a while, i think its /ring to open up the config menu
Options are straight forward, alpha is how "transparent" the rings are

DiscordMods:
http://angular.lunarpages.com/~disco15/cgi-bin/customlayouts.pl?mod=DUF
/DART and /DUF to bring up the config screens. Download a custom setup and folow the steps to applying it.
